Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Amid rising tensions with Pakistan, the central government has notified new rules to implement a unified military command across the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The move is aimed at enhancing coordination and operational efficiency among the three services through a streamlined command structure.
The new rules come under the Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control & Discipline) Act, 2023, and took effect on May 27. According to the Defence Ministry, this development is a “significant step” to strengthen jointness among the Armed Forces and improve the functioning of Inter-Services Organisations (ISOs). The Act empowers commanding officers of these organisations with clearer authority over personnel from different services.
This announcement comes at a crucial time, as India faces heightened security challenges along its borders. With tensions with Pakistan escalating after Operation Sindoor, military preparedness and synergy between the three wings of the armed forces have taken centre stage. The unified command rules are expected to ensure faster decision-making and better tactical coordination in any joint military response.
